Viola Beach's Self-Titled Debut Album Out Now
Viola Beach’s self-titled album is out today, July 29th, via the
band’s own label Fuller Beans Records. The Warrington band showed promise with their stunning lead single, Boys That Sing, which I adore. Sadly earlier this year Jack Dakin, Kris Leonard, Tomas Lowe, River Reeves and their manager
Craig Tarry tragically passed away following
a road accident in Stockholm, Sweden.
These guys were barely starting in music but have made their impact with their captivating sound. Earlier this summer Coldplay did a lovely tribute to this band and played along a live recording of their hit single, Boys That Sing!
Another awesome tune is Really Wanna Call that got me hooked after its first listen. Perfect combination of awesome lyrics and a catchy hook.
Swings And Waterslides is also another perfectly crafted indie-pop/rock tune, perfect for any summer festival out there! Kris Leonard's vocals shine through in this song!
Now my ultimate favourite is the track that stands out from the rest of the album for its somber feel: Call You Up. It is a late-night lament that showcases the maturity of their songwriting. I was instantly drawn to its melancholic vibe! Even though Call You Up has a darker/somber vibe, it is still incredibly infectious! To me it is the best track from this album!
Ultimately this album is a perfect representation of their immense talent and genious to create absolutely infectious indie-pop tunes. This album would have been the beginning of a successful career to these young men. A loss for the music world but at least we have these songs to remind us of an amazing band!
