Lo Lauren Shares Debut Single ‘Just Friends’
London-based singer and songwriter Lo Lauren makes her musical introduction with the release of her stunning debut single, the poised and elegant neo-pop jam Just Friends.
Just Friends introduces Lo Lauren to the world as an excellent storyteller as the song's poignant and stripped introductory verses slowly give way to a deeply moving crescendo; taking in rhythmic, spoken-word verses and future-facing vocoder chorus which seems to transcend any genre labels. I am loving how Lauren's smooth vocals beautifully convey the emotion of her relatable storytelling and how they are backed by an intimate production packed with emotive piano keys and an infectious beat.
Breaking away from the pop mould, Lo will introduce her debut Just Friends with a spoken-word monologue video, rather than a traditional music video.
Theatre is deep-rooted in me, and I love performance on every level, so I want to do something bold for every song. Having a monologue as your opening statement as an artist is something unique.

Lo Lauren is definitely great with words and I really like the way she picks up something personal and transforms it into a stunning and relatable piece of music packed with raw emotion. Check it out below!
Lo started out studying Musical Theatre at the BRIT school and was always destined for a career on some kind of stage. However it didn’t occur to her to become a songwriter until her love of English led her to study English Literature A-Level at the school. She said,
I love analysing language and exploring how everyone can interpret things differently. As soon as I realised I could combine English Literature and language, and my love of expression with performance, I just wanted to write songs.
