Laurent Shares Debut Single ‘Paradise’
Norwegian singer and songwriter Laurent makes his official musical debut with the release of his first single Paradise, a sexy crossover between pop and R&B, out now on his own record label.
I am really enjoying his dulcet, smooth vocals and how they are beautifully backed by an infectious R&B-tinged electronic production with an infectious beat and a memorable chorus. I am also enjoying how Laurent manages to deliver a catchy jam that is lyrically and sonically daring and dark, reminding me a bit of The Weeknd's sound. That chorus is stuck to my head (in a good way) and his vocals, packed with so much heart and soul, perfectly convey the emotion of his songwriting. The bridge is my favourite part of the song, instantly making it a memorable listening experience and getting me super excited to share it with you guys. Have a listen to this gem below!
Speaking about Paradise, Laurent said,
To me, Paradise is about how easily you forget where you´re from, what you stand for, and simply who you really are. When I was in the studio with the producer, Mazen, we talked about how a lot of things around us seemed superficial. That the intentions of the people being around us, both professionally and personally, were not for a deeper understanding of us. That they have a temporary facade with a short-term plan. Some do it deliberately with an evil agenda to benefit themselves, others do it unconsciously because of their insecurities. It is a facade that many have. You often build the facade because you do not want to feel alone. Being afraid to be yourself, in the uncertainty that someone will not like you for who you are, makes you build a "character" that hides and protects you.
