The Duke of Norfolk Unveils New Single ‘August/Orchid Blue’
The Duke of Norfolk, the recording project of Portland-based peripatetic folk musician Adam Howard, has just unveiled his brand new single August/Orchid Blue, the third single to be taken from his upcoming album!

I am really enjoying his passionate and emotive vocal delivery, beautifully conveying the emotion of his lovely, relatable storytelling about looking at the uncertain future with hope. Apart from his gorgeous vocals and harmonies, I am very fond of this characteristic folk sound of his with lush guitar melodies beautifully intertwined with some electronic elements and captivating horns that make the song stand out even more. Have a listen to this beautiful song below!

Speaking about the song, The Duke of Norfolk said,
August/Orchid Blue was written while I was developing a bicycle injury which left me without strength in my hands for nearly two months. The injury felt like a physical metaphor for my inability to hold my life together.

After cancelling a tour once my hands were so weak that I could no longer play the guitar, I traveled to my childhood home of Tulsa, OK. I started this recording en route to Oklahoma, sitting on the floor of the Denver International Airport.

The song, in part, is about looking at the uncertain future and finding hope in its inevitable arrival despite ignorance of its eventual form.
