LYRAS Share Debut Single ‘Don’t Keep Me Awake’
Newcastle-based jazz fusion 5-piece band LYRAS have just shared their debut single Don't Keep Me Awake which showcases LYRAS' blend of dreamy vocal harmonies with a sophisticated sonic backdrop to create a sound grounded in soul, jazz and contemporar R&B.
I am loving Ada Francis' smooth, soulful vocals and how they are beautifully backed by a captivating production packed with groovy guitars, lush horns and steady percussion. On Don't Keep Me Awake Ada Francis poetically describes a casual hook-up motivated more by boredom than by lust and is laced with both humour and heartache.I am also very fond of the dreamy harmonies and the song's overall feel-good, laid-back atmosphere that is perfect to get one in a good mood after a stressful day. Check it out below!
Speaking about the song, Ada Francis said,
The song explores boredom, apathy and the feeling of just wanting a little comfort for comfort’s sake – nothing more, nothing less. I was interested in depicting a what, in this case, might end up being a one night stand, from a female perspective, which is a view that isn’t as often explored as the male counterpart.
LYRAS are:

Gavin Christie – Drums;
Luke Elgie – Bass Guitar;
