Maari Share New Single ‘Silence’
Maari, the moniker of Australian artists Dominic Cabusi and Bronte Maree O'Neill, have just shared their brand new single Silence, a lovely indie-pop ballad.
The follow up to their nostalgia drenched single Silver Whispers, Silence shows the darkness that exists beneath love. I am loving their passionate vocals and how they are packed with raw emotion, effortlessly connecting the listener to their relatable storytelling. I really like how the song starts quite smooth and slowly builds up, bursting with energy on the bridge. The song has a Disney/Cinematic atmosphere that I love which is enhanced by the emotive piano chords, dreamy harmonies, infectious melodies and luscious strings. Quite an enthralling listening experience which you can check out below!
Speaking about the song, Bronte Maree said,
Silence was written in a very vulnerable, dark place for both of us. We were feeling quite out of body and mind and just sat down on the couch with a keyboard and poured this out. It was very much a therapeutic, emotional vomit we didn’t think much about until coming back to it from a better place. We wanted to share this unguarded moment with people who are feeling the same aches. It’s about loving someone deeply and welcoming them to sit in your darkness with you; but then being terrified that it will be too much. Now and then there’s that terrible timing where you fall into eachother's darkness and create a kind of black hole... we wanted this song to feel like that. Two lovers sitting in the expanse of black waiting for the glow.
