SHY Martin Shares New Single ‘Break With Me’
SHY Martin, the moniker of Swedish pop singer-songwriter Sara Hjellström, is back with her first offering of the year and I am excited to share it with you guys. Titled Break With Me, this is a lovely bedroom-pop song that thakes the listener in a journey through the separation anxiety and intoxicating mixed emotions that arise when two people become strangers. This is the first single to be released by SHY Martin on her brand-new record label SHY Recordings.
I am a big fan of her melodic, dulcet vocals and how they effortlessly convey the emotion of her relatable storytelling. Break With Me shows how the past year has affected our relationships, those that have strengthened us and those that have broken us down.
SHY Martin is such an incredibly gifted storyteller and I like how her lush vocals bring to life the mixed emotions that arise when two people become strangers from one another. Speaking about the song, SHY Martin said,
This year has been overwhelming in many ways. For the first time in years, I have spent a lot of time with myself and taken the space to reflect. I have thought a lot about how these strange times we are in have changed so many relationships, some that have become stronger, and others that have broken down. We started writing "Break With Me" one summer evening in the car on the way home from a lake, but I relate to it now more than ever. During the year, I also thought about how I want to work with my music and chose to start my own record label to have full freedom every step of the way. This is the first song I will release on my own label, so it feels very special.
