Gio Bermejo Shares New Single ‘MEMO’
Spanish singer and songwriter Gio Bermejo is back with a gorgeous new single called MEMO, a retro-infused piece of neo-soul music.
I am a fan of Gio's distinctive, powerful vocals and how they instantly command the listener's attention to his storytelling. Written and composed by Gio Bermejo and produced together with Ricky Furiati, MEMO is a reflection on depression and the feeling of emptiness that comes with it and is wrapped around a memorable production that blends Pop with notes of Soul and Jazz. I am also enjoying the influence of 1950s Soul with arpeggiated piano intertwined with guitars, lush horns and feminine chorus with the fusion of 1990s Hip Hop percussion.
Quite a memorable listening experience which is also paired with a captivating music video. Directed by Norden Tachfint, the main scene takes place in a hypothetical psychotherapy session
with Amy Winehouse as the therapist.
The four television scenes hanging on chains behind Gio
represent his different memories and thoughts
that we discover throughout the video. Check it out below!
