Ryan Egan Unveils New Single ‘Weeknights’

NYC & Paris-based singer, songwriter, producer and multi-instrumentalist Ryan Egan has just shared his brand new single Weeknights, a chill piece of music about being lonely in a new, big city.

I am really enjoying his smooth vocals and how they glide beautifully over the polished lo-fi pop/rock production. I am very fond of the way Ryan Egan beautifully mixes elements of disco, indie rock and psychedelic music into an enthralling listening experience. I am particularly fond of the slow-burning disco beat, warm synths, cool saxophone and breathy female backups that create an overall warm and laid-back atmosphere perfect for a relaxing weekend at home. Check it out below!

Speaking about the song, Ryan Egan said,

I wrote Weeknights just before leaving NYC for Paris in 2019. It’s a song about summer nights in the city, nervous hook ups and living with your heart on your sleeve. The song’s sonic character, to my ears, has an element of “French Touch” à la artists such as Air or Sébastien Tellier, as well as psychedelic, indie rock staples like Mac Demarco and Unknown Mortal Orchestra. The track’s slow-burning disco beat, subtle sax hits, breathy female backups and warbly lead melodies woven together by electric guitar, synths and saxophone aims to exemplify the buzz of teetering on the edge of loneliness in a big city, encounters with strangers, and the uncertain, yet ever forward motion of our life’s trajectory.
