Emerging US artist slimdan, the moniker of LA-based artist Danny Silberstein, has just shared his brand new single Politics & Party Tricks, out now via Communion Records.
The lead single of his forthcoming EP to anyone who cares, Politics & Party Tricks is a light and invigorating piece of indie-pop music that sets the sweet and effervescent tone he embarks on throughout this whole collection, and adds a much-needed dose of sunshine into these looming winter months.
This is one of those songs that instantly get me in a relaxed mood and I sure needed it today. slimdan's super smooth vocals glide beautifully over infectious indie-pop melodies packed with sun-soaked guitar riffs nicely intertwined with cool tambourine and steady percussion that create an overall warm, laid-back atmosphere that oozes carefree summer vibes. Speaking about Politics & Party Tricks, slimdan said,
'Politics and Party Tricks' is a song about my experience of hating to go out while simultaneously desperately needing to be invited to things. I wrote this tune with my close ally Brian Brundage and we had a lot of fun writing the verse lyrics (particularly proud of the fact that I snuck in the word nonchalant lol). I then brought the idea to Ryan Linvill and we fleshed it out together over the summer of 2020. Shout outs to Ted Poor for ripping the drums on this record!
