thea wang Shares New Single ‘Jennifer’

Norwegian singer and songwriter thea wang has just shared her brand new single Jennifer, a sombre, folk/acoustic song out now via MADE Records.

The follow up to March's lovely ballad While He Is Still Asleep, Jennifer finds thea wang continuing to showcase the warm, melancholy-infused sound that won me over. Establishing itself immediately with an emotional and intense tone, thea is accompanied with the subtle plucking of an acoustic guitar as she tells the heart-wrenching story of a love triangle, where the character Jennifer has been seeing another woman behind the main character's back. As the song develops, thea introduces subtle overdubbed voices, as well as a haunting solo violin. I am loving how effortless her storytelling is, being beautifully enhanced by her poignant, wistful vocals and polished folk-acoustic production. The whole atmosphere of the song is quite warm and soothing, perfect for a laid-back day home alone. Check it out below!

Speaking about the song, thea explains,
I watched my neighbours’ confrontation, and then imagined the ultimate breakup where the main character is (almost unbelievably) happy for her partner to fall in love behind her back. The most important thing for this person is for Jennifer to be happy, and free to leave if that is what feels right to her. Ultimately I guess it’s about a toxic relationship, and about someone being treated quite badly, and the counterpoint and desperation in someone trying to keep a relationship, no matter what.
