Chris de Sarandy Shares New Single ‘Who I Once Knew’

British singer and songwriter Chris de Sarandy is back with his brand new single Who I Once Knew, a memorable, moody piece of indie/electronic music, out now via Embassy of Music.

Who I Once Knew finds the talented artist unloading his heaviest emotional baggage over a nostalgia-laden electronic production akin to vocal-driven, electro-acoustic pop by M83 and Aquilo. I am a fan of his wistful, powerful vocals which have a captivating raspy touch that enhances the emotion pouring from his vocal delivery.

Who I Once Knew is a song about losing a special someone, noticing the change in them and the eventual demise of the relationship. It's a song drenched in male vulnerability and is backed by grainy strings with chugging electric guitar and reverb kicks to a dramatic effect. Apart from his stunning vocals, what I like the most about the song is how packed with emotion it is, with lush strings and a memorable beat capturing my attention throughout the song and making me want to come back to it over and overa again. Have a listen to this gem below!

Speaking about the song, Chris de Sarandy said,
It’s about losing the person that you once had a connection to and noticing the change in them. It was written about the effects it created on me.
Above all, that emotional release applies to the middle eight and its specific reference to London bus number 35.
It’s a bus route I’d take from Clapham Junction to Brixton. I left her place, and I was really upset, and that’s when I thought: this is no longer the person I fell in love with. In that particular section of the song, 35 was a cathartic experience of writing that on paper, and feeling like it was helping to close that kind of memory.
