Juliana Madrid Shares New Single ‘Trackstar’

Texas based singer songwriter Juliana Madrid has just shared her brand new single Trackstar, the latest single to be taken from her upcoming sophomore EP, Afterlife, set to be released on Neon Gold Records.

I am a fan of Juliana Madrid's smooth, expressive vocals and how they glide effortlessly over the breezy indie-pop production. Written alongside two Grammy nominated talents; Benjamin Ruttner (of The Knocks), and Matthew Koma (Zedd, Carly Rae Jepsen, Shania Twain etc), Trackstar is a song about being in a relationship with someone that is trying to escape their empty life and trying to relive the glory days through a newfound love. This message is wrapped around a captivating blend of indie-pop, alt-pop and lo-fi pop elements that feature memorable driving guitar lines seamlessly paired with bright synths, energetic drum patterns a a lush sax solo that together create an overall warm, sun-soaked atmosphere that makes this a great song for long drives during the summer. Speaking about the song, Juliana Madrid said,
The "Trackstar" is just me making a reference to basically every -peaks-in-high school- award winning- jock type -cliche. In the song I talk about having a relationship with someone who really identifies with those traits, and sort of the “lesson well learned” after its end. It was a realization that this so-called “Trackstar” was trying to escape his empty life and relive the glory days through this newfound love. Just one of those tropes that seems to never go out of style unfortunately.
