OLI Shares Introspective New Single ‘Cold Hearts’
London-based singer and songwriter OLI returns with the enigmatic and introspective new single Cold Hearts.
Out now via Ben-Addiction Music, Cold Hearts is a pensive new song that showcases OLI's ethereal brand of alternative pop music that I love. I am really enjoying the tone of her voice and signature vocal melodies which ooze so much heart and soul that instantly draws the listeners to her storytelling. The song features a spoken word sample of a line from Edgar Allen Poe’s ‘The Fall of The House of Usher’, taken from a radio show called ‘Escape’, originally broadcast in 1947.
Apart from OLI's stunning vocals, I am particularly fond of the atmospheric synth that is augmented by a driving percussion element and emotive piano keys that together create an overall moody, laid-back atmosphere perfect for a reflective day at home. Check it out below!
Speaking about the song, OLI said,
I wrote ‘Cold Hearts’ in late 2022 while living in London. The winter months can seem so long and drawn out, it’s very easy to forget that the constant darkness will eventually end. Sometimes the only thing that will make it better is just telling yourself that it won’t be forever, and you won’t feel this way forever either.
