Lilith Merlot Shares New Single ‘White Lies’
Dutch singer and songwriter Lilith Merlot shares her brand new single White Lies, the latest single to be lifted from her sophomore EP, Shades Of Blue, out now via her label Lilith Merlot Records.
I am loving her rich, soulful vocals which are quite commanding, instantly capturing the listener's attention to her storytelling. Apart from her gorgeous vocals, I am particularly fond of the infectious production that pairs steady drum patterns with lush piano keys and rhythms that together create an overall warm, intimate atmosphere perfect for a laid-back day home alone. Speaking about the EP, Lilith Merlot said,
I started writing the songs on this EP after a very unexpected and painful breakup. I found myself not being able to talk about it, so I sat down behind the piano and wrote my way through it. Some of the piano ballads on this EP are quite vulnerable, but you can clearly hear a shift to a lighter shade of blue toward the end. For example, in the groovy, soulful Pop song White Lies, in which I sing: ‘I refuse to remember you in this dark shade of blue, you can take it all from me, but I’m keeping the memories.’
