Matt Perriment Shares New Single ‘Blockbuster’
English singer/songwriter Matt Perriment shares his brand new single Blockbuster, the third single to be lifted from his upcoming album, Atlantic Skies, set to arrive on September 29th via V2 Records Benelux.
I am loving those luscious, intricate acoustic guitar riffs throughout the song and how they are beautifully intertwined with emotive piano chords, creating such a heartwarming and enthralling atmosphere. Then they are seamlessly paired with a steady beat, memorable string and brass sections that build up in pace and energy to match the emotion pouring from his voice. And talking about voice, two words: simply amazing! Matt Perriment's vocals are packed with so much soul and raw emotion that instantly captured my attention to his heartfelt storytelling.
Blockbuster is a song about realising we're all flawed and how many are fixated in the "beauty" of social media and all the things we can't afford, rather than bettering ourselves. Such a powerful song wrapped around an epic, cinematic production that makes me want to come back to it over and over again. Check it out below!
Speaking about the song, Matt Perriment said,
Blockbuster is a song about the realization that we are all flawed. The song is about when I moved from my small hometown to a big city, and the realization that I was nobody, young, and had everything to prove. I thought I was all that, but then reality hits you and you realize you’re a tiny fish in a very big pond. The main takeaway in the chorus is that we’re fixated on social media and things we can’t afford, rather than bettering ourselves, and throughout it uses Blockbuster (the old DVD / video store) as a metaphor, comparing myself to an old unwanted movie / DVD left at the back of a Blockbuster store.
