Walter The Producer Shares New Single ‘MUST BE THE AIR’
20-year-old artist Walter The Producer shares his brand new single MUST BE THE AIR, a captivating blend of indie Rock, lo-fi disco-Pop, & alt-R&B out now via SLUMBO LABS.
Written about moving on from a toxic relationship and how much better he felt after, MUST BE THE AIR finds the talented artist effortlessly showcasing his storytelling abilities and gorgeous vocals over a super smooth and infectious production. I am loving his distinctive raspy vocals which beautifully enhance the soul and emotion of his storytelling. The whole atmosphere of the song is quite warm and laid-back, mostly due to the lush guitar loop, subtle, dreamy harmonies, catchy bass and cool slide riff that together create such a relaxing soundscape perfect for a late summer's day. Check it out below!
Speaking about the song, Walter The Producer said,
We made 'MUST BE THE AIR' when I went to la to do some sessions. I was linked up with this dope producer Cowboy Lansky and we clicked immediately. I was kinda making a lot of Tame Impalaish/psychedelic rock stuff at the time so I kinda wanted to do something different then what I was doing. This was also the first time I was in la and was super inspired by how chill everything was lol. We started just playing around and ended up with this cool guitar loop we made and then went from there. He had this cool slide guitar in the corner of his room and I was like we need to use that. We ended up coming up with a cool slide riff and the melody and lyrics just started flowing. I ended up staying at his place for about 14 hours until we finished the song. I just wanna hit all bases in-regards to what i make musically.
With this song specifically I was trying to make something that gave me nostalgia from what I would listen to on the way to school in the fall. Something that I would find on my junior year fall playlist along side Dominic Fike, Steve Lacy, Kali Uchis, Tyler The Creator etc.
