Pikes Shares New Single ‘License’

Pikes, the moniker of Swedish singer, songwriter and producer Christoffer Ling, has just shared his brand new single License, the latest single to be lifted from his fifth studio album, Yuppie Love (Soundtrack To The Yuppie Lifestyle).

What I like the most about this song is its energy and explosive atmosphere, instantly giving me that extra boost of energy to carry on with my day. I am really enjoying his passionate vocal delivery and how it flows effortlessly atop the infectious indie/electro-pop production. License is a song about city versus small town life and how people that don't live in a big city need a car to get around. I feel this song was written for me as I don't drive and I am tired of having that conversation with people that get surprised I don't have a license, making me feel like an aline. One thing is different though, I live in a small town and not driving is definitely a nuissance whenever you want to go anywhere. This message is wrapped around an upbeat production that features lively drum patterns seamlessly with bright, shimmering synths and piano keys that create an overall blissful atmosphere perfect to get you in a good mood in no time. Speaking about the song, Pikes said,
License is about the contrast between the city life vs the life in a small town. Through out the years I have reflected on how much of life in a small town is centered around the car, even in conversation and when I tell people that I don’t even have a drivers license they sometimes sort of choke and you can tell that they kind of think it’s the weirdest thing that they’ve ever heard. Who needs a car when you’re a metropolitan yuppie in the best years of your life right?
