Tom A. Smith Shares New Single ‘Fading Away’
British singer and songwriter Tom A. Smith returns with his powerful new single Fading Away, his most passionate and anthemic release to date.
Produced by Hugo White (The Maccabees), Fading Away brings back more of that heartfelt emotion Tom A. Smith has been developing since he first emerged, brimming with euphoric textures throughout. Tom's powerful, passionate vocals are the star of the song and they soar effortlessly over the punchy indie-pop-rock production that brings so much energy and makes the song quite a memorable listening experience. I am particularly fond of the soaring guitar lines, seamlessly paired with shimmering rhythms, lush piano keys and punchy drum patterns that create an overall euphoric atmosphere perfect to get one in a good mood and singing along in no time!
Speaking about the song, Tom A. Smith said,
I wrote this song in a completely different way than I usually do and everything just flowed so beautifully that the demo and everything was completed in under 5 hours. I love space and think the whole thing had a classic vibe. The double meaning of the lyrics and everything works really well for me. To get Hugo White to produce it was fate I think. I think he's a genius and it was such an enjoyable process. It stays really faithful to the original demo but as soon as he got his hands on it, it became massive.
Fading Away is accompanied by a heart-warming video made up of footage of Tom shot over 10 years ago when he was the ripe old age of nine, having been inspired by watching Interstellar one too many times. Directed by Dale Knight and Christopher McCourtie, the video was filmed at Blast Beach in Durham where some scenes from Alien 3 were filmed, it adds a charming angle to an already tantalising listen.
