Ethan Lyric Shares New Single ‘Messing Things Up Again’
Winnipeg-born Indigenous musician and songwriter Ethan Lyric shares his brand new single Messing Things Up Again, the second single to be taken from his much anticipated EP Saskatoon Berries (out November 24).
What I like the most about this song is its warmth and how it sounds perfect for a laid-back weekend at home. Ethan Lyric's luscious, expressive vocals glide effortlessly over the captivating production, beautifully connecting the listeners to his relatable storytelling. Messing Things Up Again is a song about making a wrong choice and looking back and feeling that everything you decide ends up being wrong. This message is wrapped around a memorable production that pairs a toe-tapping, carefree drum groove with acoustic guitar and electric guitar riffs that create an overall laid-back, feel-good atmosphere.
Speaking about the song, Ethan Lyric said,
Messing Things Up Again’ is a lot more Indie learning than anything I have put out to date and I think that it is a perfect example of the influence my producer JayWood had on the project. We worked together to create the lead guitar line that runs throughout the song and just had so much fun doing it.
’Messing Things Up Again’ tells the story of feeling like at every turn you make the wrong choice and everything you do feels like the wrong decision in retrospect. I guess this song really is just that part of your mind that tries to convince you that you really are just messing everything up again.
