Dover Lynn Fox Shares New Single ‘When Youth Was Wasted’
Canadian singer and songwriter Dover Lynn Fox shares her brand new single When Youth Was Wasted, an upbeat, blissful piece of Americana-infused, indie-pop music.
Following her hit singles Winter Son and Phantom Lover, When Youth Was Wasted is the latest track to be lifted from her upcoming EP Low Moon and it beautifully showcases her stunning vocals and storytelling abilities. You can effortlessly feel the raw emotion and soul pouring from her powerful vocals which soar over a modern Americana-pop production. When Youth Was Wasted is a nostalgia-infused song that finds the artist reminiscing about summer, sharing a deeper message of never wanting to look back and believing your youth was wasted (something I tend to do quite often to be honest). This storytelling is wrapped around punchy drum patterns seamlessly paired with soaring guitar riffs and emotive piano keys that come together to create an upbeat, sun-soaked atmosphere.
Speaking about the song, Dover Lynn Fox said,
“When Youth Was Wasted” was written during a dark Canadian winter, which had me reminiscing about summer. As I recalled the previous summer, my mind settled on blue waves, highway drivers, sunsets, thunderstorms and the people that made that summer memorable... As I continued to write, winter came to represent hindsight and the times at which you second guess yourself, and the summer came to represent the choices and the things you’ve done; the people you have remained with and those you have broken away from. Sometimes it’s hard to know if you’re doing the right and on the right path. It’s about never wanting to look back and believing your youth was wasted.
