Tulsa-based, Minnesota-born indie soul/rock artist Casii Stephan has just unveiled her brand new single Without A Box, the last single off of Casii's upcoming EP Relationship Status set for release later this summer via SHAMUS RECORDS.
What I like the most about this song is its warmth and emotionally-charged atmosphere that instantly got me excited to want to share it with you guys. Casii Stephan's heartfelt vocals are definitely the star of the song, exuding raw emotion and soul over a captivating piano-based production. Withouth A Box is a song about realising that one's life doesn't revolve around one's relationship status. It shows that we don't need someone else to define us, a lovely storytelling beautifully delivered through Stephan's gorgeous vocals. Accompanying her lovely vocals we have emotive piano keys that are seamlessly intertwined with steady drum beats and haunting atmospherics that together enhance the song's warmthh and emotive touch!
Speaking about the song, Stephan confides,
this song is about realizing that life doesn't stop and end with our relationship statuses. We don't need them to define us. As a song, I've written out my need to know and control the future. I love to know things. I want to see how the story ends before it starts and in life, you don't get that. You have to let go and be willing to start over. Life was never meant to be lived in a box.
