Julian Taylor x Allison Russell Unveil New Single ‘Pathways’

4x JUNO Award nominated, Toronto based singer-songwriter Julian Taylor teams up with fellow Grammy Award-winning singer-songwriter Allison Russell to delivery Pathways, a lovely ballad taken from Taylor’s upcoming record of the same name out on September 27th via Howling Turtle. 

 

I am a fan of Taylor's rich, expressive vocals and they are nicely paired with Allison Russell's enchanting vocals, both radiating raw emotion and soul, effortlessly drawing our attention to their relatable storytelling. Pathways is a song about guiding someone through the hard points in life, reminding us that we can overcome our inner doubts and struggles. Apart from their lovely storytelling and rich vocal harmonies, I am particularly fond of the intricate guitar plucks which are seamlessly intertwined with steady drum patterns that come together to create an overall warm, intimate atmosphere.

Speaking about the song, Julian Taylor said,

The journey of life puts us all on our own respective pathways to find out who we are and how we can strive to overcome any of the inner doubts and struggles we all experience. This song is meant to be a letter from a person who has gone through many trivial experiences and who is trying to be there for someone younger like their child and protect them and guide them through the hard points in life. When we wrote the song, each writer felt as if they were speaking to their children.
