Ella Clayton Shares New Single ‘Honey’

London-based folk-pop singer, songwriter and artist Ella Clayton shares her brand new single Honey, a gorgeous song about falling in and out of love, and the mementos we keep.

Produced by Matt Cooke and Michael Hemmings, Honey showcases Ella’s honeye-soaked vocals and natural gift for telling relatable and whimsical stories through her songwriting, all wrapped up in a blend of elements of folk, pop, rock and soul. Clayton's vocals are definitely the star of the song, packed with a lot of soul and emotion that instantly makes us feel each and every single word she is singing. I am really fond of the killer bass and guitar plucks and how the song builds up in energy with cool beats and an explosion of trumpets towards the end, making this a stunning listening experience that speaks straight to the heart and soul.

Speaking about the song, Ella said,
When I split up with my ex, I gave him a cactus and he called it Ella. Writing this song, I was obsessed with the physical mementos of a relationship - a cannibal cactus, a gorgeous blue jumper - what we choose to keep and what we say goodbye to. Memory is different. I wish I could control what I remember and what I forget. But in my experience, we soften to the memories with the fullness of time, and are able to value the sweetness for what it was. We captured that rose-tinted, honeyed retrospection in the music. Joy! Trumpets! It was so much fun working with Matt and Mickey on this song, I hope you can hear that in the recording.
