Speaking about the song, Emmrose said,
I wrote 'Heartbreaker' like a diary entry. The inspiration started from my literal diary. It’s a crazy story, and I feel like the lyrics get the plot across enough, but it’s all true. I broke up with a boyfriend for someone else, and that made me a heartbreaker. My ex even explicitly called me a heartbreaker, and that’s what kinda brought this whole concept to life.
