Mike McKenna Jr. Shares New Single ‘Long Sable Isle’

Canadian singer and songwriter Mike McKenna Jr has just shared his brand new single Long Sable Isle, a Folk-Americana cut that tells a harrowing tale of loss and isolation off Nova Scotia's coast. 

 

The follow up to the captivating single Grassfire, Long Sable Isle is the second single to be taken from his forthcoming album and is inspired the remote and mysterious Sable Island, the song tells the haunting story of a sailor who, after losing his partner, becomes stranded on the island’s barren sand dunes. Left alone to wander and hallucinate, he is haunted by memories of his past and the love he has lost. I am loving how effortless his storytelling is, effortlessly capturing my attention from start to finish. His soulful, raspy timbre is joined by delicate backing vocals which beautifully enhance the emotion and melancholia of his storytelling. There's something very soothing and comforting about his delivery that I really like and how it is nicely paired with delicate acoustic guitars, steady drums and strings that together create an overall warm, intimate atmosphere.
