Brisbane-based singer and songwriter ALBI. shares her stunning new single no ctrl, the follow up to the Charli XCX-inspired “lipstick” which gained airplay on Triple J.
What I like the most about this song is its infectious energy and how it instantly got me in a good mood and ready for a long day. no ctrl is a powerful and personal track that finds the talented artist singing about her struggles with anxiety and the challenge of letting go of control, something many of us can relate to. A message flawlessly conveyed through her stunning vocals which are backed by a unique, infectious blend of hyperpop with elements of breakbeat and drum and bass that set the tone for a high-energy and memorable listening experience.

This song was written as a reminder to myself and the listener that when anxiety strikes and you find yourself wanting to take control of everything around you, there’s really no point. It doesn’t help you in any way and in my experience, it can make everything worse. Through trial and error I’ve learnt that there’s no point trying to control the things that are out of my hands, there’s no point in spiralling. Whilst it’s easier said than done, this song reminds me to let go and let life play out freely, or at least try to.
