Alice Ivy x Josh Teskey Unveil New Single ‘Do I Need To Know What Love Is’

Australian producer Alice Ivy shares her brand new single Do I Need To Know What Love Is?, the latest single to be taken from her upcoming third studio album, Do What Makes You Happy, out on November 22nd via Helix Records.

For this song, the talented artist teamed up with GRAMMY Award-winning vocalist Josh Teskey, whose stunning, soulful vocals instantly commanded my attention from start to finish. You can feel the raw emotion and soul pouring from his passionate delivery which is accompanied by a polished blend of orchestral and electronic elements. Teskey's vocals are definitely the star of the song as the entire production creates the perfect soundscape for the raw emotion and storytelling to soar. Apart from his vocals, I am particularly fond of the lush horns that are nicely intertwined with orchestral elements, softly clasped hands and childlike choral arrangements that come together to create an overall warm, anthemic atmosphere packed with soul and emotion.

Speaking of the track’s creation, and collaboration with Josh Teskey, Alice Ivy noted:
Working with Josh was one of the first sessions I had coming out of lockdown in Melbourne. I was so excited to work with him, I’m such a big fan of his vocals and was so interested to hear what it would sound like if we worked on something a little more electronic. I actually pre-sent him the instrumental (which I never really do) and he loved it. He was such a pro when he came in. He spent about 2 hours warming up his vocals blowing into a straw, and did about 8 runs of the track. I love this way of recording vocals, from top to bottom not section by section, it’s such a joy to be able to experience the song build so naturally especially as a producer, sitting back listening to Josh Tesky do his thing on the RCA mic! It’s a moment in my life I will never forget.
