St. Lucia Share New Single ‘Fear of Falling’

Husband-and-wife duo St. Lucia, comprised of South Africa-born Jean-Philip Grobler and Germany-born Patti Beranek, share their brand new single Fear of Falling, a poignant reflection on life's journey, inspired by the birth of Grobler's first son.

The follow up to their retro-infused single Falling Asleep, Fear of Falling is the latest track taken from their forthcoming 5th studio album and captures a sense of awe, wonder, and the fleeting nature of time. I am really enjoying the passion pouring from Grobler's vocals and how they instantly draw our attention to his personal storytelling that is enhanced by a captivating, lush instrumentation. Apart from his passionate vocals, I am particularly fond of the catchy guitar plucks that are nicely intertwined with cinematic strings, bright synths and a memorable driving beat that builds up in pace and energy to match the raw emotion pouring from his delivery, creating an overall warm, upbeat atmosphere.

Speaking about the song, Jean-Philip Grobler said,
This song touches on so many things to me. It feels, in a weird way, like it’s summing up my feeling of being alive. Of time moving fast, kind-of like watching a time-lapse of a beautiful landscape. Or those moments we all experience occasionally where it all makes sense, everything seems connected and everything has a purpose and there is an almost unbearable amount of beauty in the world. In many ways this song sums up those moments for me. Which, really, is all of life, all the time, but we only see it when we have that perspective which we can’t contrive or bring about artificially. They just happen. Where we see that all the bad moments, all the good moments add up to something, they all have a meaning. So yes, in the context of all of this there is no need to be afraid, because there is a purpose to everything. We need not have a fear of falling.
