Luna Keller x Jory Avner Unveil New Single ‘Paper Moon’

Spanish/German singer and songwriter Luna Keller teams up with Chicago-based musician Jory Avner to deliver Paper Moon, a heart-wrenching exploration of our longing for meaning and connection.

Luna Keller's first new single following the release of her sophomore album Ocean Inside Of Me, which arrived earlier this year, Paper Moon is a soul-stirring duet that pairs Avner’s powerful vocals with Keller’s delicate notes that effortlessly carry raw emotion straigh to our hearts. This gem finds both artists pouring their hearts out and singing about being worn down by a longing for connection, and a perpetual search for meaning.

The story delves into wanting something more but not being able to express what that is, and feeling caught in a reality that will never be quite enough. An achingly beautiful, relatable storytelling flawlessly conveyed through their emotionally-charged vocals which are accompanied by a memorable Folk Rock production that pairs lush, cinematic strings with emotive piano keys, steady drums and guitar plucks that build up in pace and energy to match the raw emotion pouring from their gorgeous vocals.

Speaking about the song, Luna Keller said,
I remember hearing one of Jory’s songs for the first time and feeling so deeply seen, he manages to hit you with the spaces between the lines unlike anyone else. We have quite different approaches to writing technically but our emotional connection to music is similar. It’s a great combination because we both got to bring our unique voice to it while still speaking the same language. This song is heavy, it’s about being worn out by the same destructive cycles and struggling to find meaning. It hits me hard every time, recording the vocals was hard cause I felt like crying quite often.

Jory Avner added,
Working with Luna on this song has been a deeply enriching experience. When I first heard her music I was immediately captivated by her ability to balance the sort of light and darkness with her lyrics and melodies. She’s also just a prolific songwriter in her own right, and working together I feel has expanded my own view of the process. Our new song is definitely something that comes from an all too familiar place not just for both of us, but I feel anyone and everyone in these strange times.
