Sam Drysdale Shares New Single ‘Would’ve Been Beautiful’
Canadian singer-songwriter Sam Drysdale shares his brand new single Would’ve Been Beautiful, a heartfelt acoustic guitar-based ballad.
Taken from his new project Bonnie’s Sad Songs, out now via Slaight Music, Would've Been Beautiful strips down to the essence of Drysdale's artistry, pairing heartfelt lyrics with acoustic instrumentation to create a raw and intimate sound. I am a sucker for acoustic-driven songs and this one is definitely up my alley. Sam Drysdale's vocasls are simply stunning, packed with raw, honest emotion and soul, instantly making me feel each and every single word he is singing.
Would've Been Beautiful is a poignant reflection on love lost and futures unfulfilled, with Drysdale's deeply emotional vocals conveying the bittersweet reality of a relationship ending and the dreams left behind. Apart from his stunning vocals and haunting harmonies I am particularly fond of the intricate acoustic guitar-based melody and sparse production that together create an overall raw, intimate atmosphere packed with so much soul and emotion that is guaranteed to give you the feels in no time.
Speaking about the song, Sam Drysdale said,
Heartbreak is a bitch, but this is the best music I’ve ever made. Full stop. It took me ten years to earn the right to make songs like this, and I’m grateful that I never stopped. Of all the music I’ve ever written and recorded, “Would’ve Been Beautiful” is the only song that has ever come out sounding EXACTLY as I heard it in my head. It’s the saddest song I’ve ever written, but also my favourite. The last lyric in this track is the most important one on the entire record. It’s sad, but it’s filled with love, and that meant everything to me while writing it.
