Samantha Gongol Shares New Single ‘Planes Are Low’

Samantha Gongol, best known as one-half of the platinum-selling duo Marian Hill, shares her brand new single Planes Are Low, a heartfelt, melancholy-infused pop song.

The follow up to her solo debut single Flash in the Pan, Planes Are Low showcases Samantha's soul-baring vocals over a piano-based melody that instantly gave me the feels and got me excited to want to share it with you guys. Planes Are Low was written during lockdown and embodies what most of us were feeling at the time: low and melancholic. I love how emotive Samantha Gongol's vocals are, beautifully capturing our attention to her relatable storytelling from start to finish. The intimate production paris delicate, emotive piano chords and mood-drenched melodies that come together to create an overall melancholic atmosphere perfect for an introspective day home alone. Speaking about the song, Samantha Gongol said,
I initially wrote "Planes Are Low" after taking a long COVID walk in 2020. I remember the air felt thick, and it was unseasonably warm for winter. As I was about to turn in, a plane dipped under the clouds. I'm sure it was to get better visibility and escape the cloud cover, but it seemed almost as if it was flying dangerously low. It struck me as a metaphor for how I was feeling at the time. Everything felt wrong, kind of like the plane flying so low.
