Varas Shares Spellbinding New Single ‘My Lighter Weight’

Varas, the moniker of self-taught Swedish producer, singer and songwriter Benjamin Muñoz Varas, shares his new single My Lighter Weight, a spellbinding piano-driven ballad out now via TEN Music Group. 

 

The second single of his upcoming third EP Eaten By Worms, My Lighter Weight finds the talented artist showcasing a more stripped-back, introspective side as he delves into the complex emotions surrounding the experience of being closely examined by a loved one. Varas's smooth, evocative vocals are the star of the song, effortlessly drawing our attention to his intimate storytelling which resonates with listeners on a profoundly intimate level. Apart from his raw, unvarnished vocal delivery we are gifted with a mournful piano-based melody that come together to create an overall warm, intimate atmosphere perfect for an introspective day home alone.

Speaking about the song, Varas said,

It's about that feeling of embarrassment, but also liberation, when someone close to you points out that you look worn out and tired. I don't even see that weariness when I look in the mirror, but having it highlighted by another person can be both mortifying and strangely cathartic. There's a sense of the facade being as thin as rice paper, and a desire to be scrutinised, to be seen in our truest, most unguarded form.
