meka Shares New Single ‘Tomato Song’

meka, the moniker of American singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Melissa Lingo, shares her brand new single Tomato Song, an enchanting folk song that transport listeners to the hazy sweet spot of 60's-70's folk.

The second single to be taken from meka’s upcoming album The Rabbit, out on 21st May 2025 via Dumont Dumont, Tomato Song finds the talented artist beautifully showcasing her storytelling abilities which paint a vivid picture of sitting with her mother in the garden with a melancholy, existential underbelly – merging memories, dreams and nightmares into one beautiful song. I adore meka's rich, gorgeous vocals which exude so much emotion and soul that is impossible not to fall in love with. Accompanying her heartfelt delivery we have stunning finger-plucked guitar riffs nicely intertwined with brushed drums and gentle piano keys that come together to create an overall warm, sun-soaked atmosphere perfect for a laid-back weekend!

Speaking about the song, meka said,
Some things are so unbearably sad or unbearably beautiful that it’s hard for me to tell a dream from life from nightmare. My mom does sleep in the garden every summer, protecting her peas and strawberries from deer and rabbits, and you can usually find me perched somewhere with a cigarette, bargaining with death. ‘Tomato song’ is ripe with rot, an ode to the in between, to the Graveyard of Dreams, which also happens to be the Fertile Compost for Hope.
