Shane Pendergast Shares New Single ‘Candle on the Sill’

Canadian singer and songwriter Shane Pendergast shares his brand new single Candle on the Sill, a poignant and emotive folk gem! 

 

Taken from his new album, Winter Grace (out now via Corran Ban Music), Candle on the Sill finds the talented artist reflecting on loved ones he has lost, imagining leaving a candle in the hope that they might return, even knowing the impossibility of that hope. You can feel the raw emotion pouring from his rich, effortless vocal delivery which is accompanied by an intimate production that pairs intricate guitar plucks and delicate, emotive piano chords (by Aaron Comeau) that together create an overall warm, somewhat melancholic atmosphere perfect for a laid-back, reflective day home alone.

Speaking about the song, Shane Pendergast said,

I like to reference old folk traditions and sayings in my songwriting. In this song, I use the expression “the last hurrah” to convey the idea of celebrating life’s fleeting moments instead of succumbing to sadness. The first verse resonates deeply for me as it recalls a bittersweet night spent with my grandmother, near the end of her life.
