Lauren Minear Shares New Single ‘Nice Guy’
Critically-acclaimed, New York City-based indie folk pop singer-songwriter Lauren Minear shares her brand new single Nice Guy, an infectious pop-rock anthem out now on Baby Boy Records.
Produced by Dan Weeks, Nice Guy shows a "moodier" side to Minear's sound and finds the talented artist singing about struggling with being vulnerable in a relationship, fearing self-destruction and codependency, choosing to be lonely over being in love with a nice guy that would nurture a healthy, loving relationship. A message beautifully conveyed through Minear's rich, expressive vocals that are accompanied by killer guitar riffs nicely intertwined with a memorable bass, steady drums and rhythms that come together to create a warm and memorable listening experience that showcases Minear's clever lyricism and soaring, addictive vocal hooks.
Speaking about the song, Lauren Minear said,
It took me a year to get this song right. I really had to shut out everyone else's opinions. I overhauled the production a few times, and recorded the lead vocal twice to get it sounding the way it does now. I wanted it to feel raw and authentic, like it does when I play it live. I was speaking to my sister one day about a dating experience she was having. It took me back to some of mine, and gave me a way into this song about the tension between your instincts and what the world is telling you. Are too many green flags a red?
